ZENTANGLE - 'My new favourite thing'

ZENTANGLING...

"Google definition: Zentangle is an easy to learn method of creating beautiful images from repetitive patterns. It is a fascinating new art form that is fun and relaxing. It increases focus and creativity."

This is my first attempt at zentangling. This is a fantastic way to free my 'designers block'. I am a massive fan of doodling and think its highly therapeutic  What a fantastic way to create unique designs. This is definitely something I will develop!

Homemade birthday card for my sister using the zentangle drawing technique.
Keys...

Trying to get back my old drawing technique. I haven't drawn properly for a long while so my drawings feel a bit stunted, awkward and forced at the moment.. I would like these drawings to be a bit looser and more free. To get this energy back I will experiment with blind drawing and continuous line drawing.

Objects - Things

I want to start designing again.. if I think back to when I was at uni I loved drawing 'things'. Just a freehand drawing of random objects around me. This would always help to get me inspired and reunite me with my individual unique drawing style which I feel my work is based around. I am going to start off by looking at keys. The reason being they come in a range of shapes, sizes and colours but are also a very simplistic shape. I want to draw some interesting keys, play around with lay out, experiment with pattern fill and puzzling the keys together to make a repeat pattern. I also aim to use a sewing machine to draw some keys as I love the free organic nature of this technique and feel it really enhances my drawing style. Watch this space!

Greeting cards

After a placement at Hallmark Cards I realised how much I enjoyed designing greeting cards.
Here are some examples of designs that I've created in my own time.

the grey in this wedding design would be silver foiling..

Father's Day

Christmas at Hallmark

I was lucky enough to do a work placement at Hallmark cards. During my time there I worked to 2 main briefs one for Christmas and one for Fathers day, of which 2 of my designs have been selected for Waitrose!
